Release Notes v0.8.0.0

Invitations

  • When sending invitations your name is in the field. No longer will it say “Secure Email Invitation”. (Thanks Glenn)

Password Handling

  • You can now change your password.
  • You can update your security question (and answer).
  • You can recover a forgotten password as long as you can remember (or recognize) your security answer. This feature has two modesof operation. In “Safe and Secure” mode, you need only be able to recognize the answer to the security question you selected in amongst a list of other possible answer. In “Super Secure” mode you must remember the answer to your security question in order to reset your password. The advantage in this mode is that not even the SPN administrators cannot access your emergency recovery keys.
  • These features are controlled through the “Password Options” tab of the preferences panel (select Tools -> Options from the menu).

Sent Items

  • You can now request that a copy of messages you send be forwarded to a registered e-mail address of your choosing. You can also set it to automatically choose the address it forwards to (it will choose your address for the group to which you sent the message).
  • These features are controlled through the “Send Options” tab of the preferences panel (select Tools -> Options from the menu).
  • These messages have the text “[SPN Send Receipt]” prepended to the subject line so that you can set up an automatic filtering rule in your e-mail client to sort these receipts into a separated folder.
  • When you view a send receipt message in TrustMe SPN, you will see a new button labeled “Delivery Details” in the command tool bar.
  • You can click this to view a list of who the message was sent to and through which group, including blind (Bcc) recipients of the message.

Appearance

  • The appearance and behaviour of the main buddy list window has been improved in a number of ways.
    • The list is now rendered in a more visually interesting way.
    • You can select (and, in the message composition window, drag) multiple contacts now.
    • You can right click a group name to get an option to expand or collapse all of your groups in the display.
    • When you select a group or buddy, an extra line of descriptive information will be displayed below the name.
  • Numerous minor improvements in setting the tab order for control selection in various forms, setting default accept buttons for some forms that lacked them, consistency in window resizing behaviour and minimum sizes for windows, etc.

Minor changes

  • If you select a custom dictionary for spell checking, your selection will be remembered no matter where you log in from.
  • Better interaction with the online help file. For example, you will no longer get multiple instances of the help window if you select “Help -> Help Topics” from the menu multiple times.

Bug fixes

  • You can now remove yourself from other people’s groups. You can access this feature by right-clicking your entry in the buddy list. This option has been present in previous versions, but did not have any effect. It now removes you from the group without requiring intervention from the group owner.
  • Interaction between multiple instances of the SPN client has been repaired. In previous versions, it was possible in some circumstances to get multiple instances of the client running concurrently, resulting in an army of little green men in the system tray. This will no longer happen.
  • Previous versions would experience a crash if you selected text in the message composition window containing multiple fonts and then tried to apply some formatting option. This has been repaired.
  • A number of bugs that occurred in uncommon account creation scenarios have been repaired.
